Nila was born in Bharat Pokhari and is the youngest of 9 children. She was married at age 23 and has 2 daughters and 1 son. When her son was around 18 months old he began to have seizures, leaving him severely brain damaged. To support the family her husband worked away in the Persian Gulf for many years and Nila worked as a primary school teacher. Nila began weaving around 9 years ago and her husband took over fulltime care of their son. She now manages the WSDO branch office in Sainik and enjoys her work, teaching women new skills and supporting them to generate their own income in such positive ways.
